Betreff: 2.0 progress thread

This will be a little 2.0 progress thread. More or less a blog.

What is working by now:
Sending posts
Sending comments
The frontend - backend is designed, too.

What needs to be done next:
Testing comment subscriptions
Quite a bit of cleanup
Adding all the little things that cost so much time
Digest support
Support sending a newsletter
Add user settings: Text / HTML / Digest

sweet! anxiously awaiting... saw you were thinking about a weekly digest... any chance of including a daily digest option too? not all blogs are limited to single post per day...

willing to do some testing for you too...

Well, as you know PN is as flexible as possible. It's probably going to be an X hourly digest. ;-)

Maybe even user's choice.

Unfortunately not. At the moment the progress is a bit stalled due to my diploma/master theses combined with good weather.

I have to finish it till monday. But then I'm going on vacation next week. Therefore 2.0 is planned for fall.

I'm working again: Today I managed to get the basic frontend working. The next step will be to make sure that all the mails get sent nicely. And when that is done I'll need some betatesters. :-)

Morty you did a great job. great plugin

what's the latest status of the version 2.0 ?

i'm really looking forward for the newsletter option and it would be nice when the user could add his/her name, so that you can write "Dear @@name" etc...

At the moment it's sleeping again. :-(

Work takes more time then I thought, my home-server and my router broke and wanted some attention, I got a new toy, and got a bit Ill... :-/

- But I planning optimistic that I'll be working on it again soonish. But I don't think there will be a stable release this year. :-(

Ok, it started to move again. The frontend design is pretty much finished. It needs quite a bit of cleaning up, though. I also managed to find a satisfying solution for the digest. This did cost my a bit of an headache because it wasn't that easy to find a solution which is flexible and also easy to adjust for someone with no to little php-knowledge. I now have a solution similar to WP: A php-file which is provided with an array containing all information needed. One should get quite far with "foreach", "if" and "echo" - statements. I'll also provide some sorting functions, to make sorting the array easy.

Ok, just sent out my first digest containing posts and comments. It still needs some SQL-tweeking to get things running smooth, but I'm advancing. :-)

With some luck it'll be in an alpha-stage by tomorrow. If anyone is interested please leave me a short note at morty@gmx.net.

Well, not really. I noticed that cleaning up was more than I thought, and also some private issues, which I weren't expecting, came up last week. I hope to get most things worked out by this week. But as always: No promises. ;-)
