Subject: subscribe-snippet not working
I don't know if my last message was lost so I am trying again.

When I past the subscribe-snippet into my sidebar (using a widget) the form looks fine on the screen except that part of the code appears in the box where the subscriber must type in his email address.

<?php echo post_notification_get_addr(); ?>

If I type an email address into the box and submit, a new page opens up with a 404 error:

Not Found, Error 404  The page you are looking for no longer exists.

I don't understand why part of the code should appear in the visible form. I need some help figuring out what to do.

Thanks.

Lost message: It probably did. Sorry.

Can you send me a link? (You can send me a email to post_notification@xn--strbe-mva.de if you don't want to post it here. )

The 404 means that most likely something is wrong with the url. This can be a theme or - more likely - a configuration issue.

thanks for responding so quickly, and for offering to help.

Sending a link to you wouldn't help since I had already removed the "snippet" widget from the site.

Rather than use the widget "snippet" code, I just stole the form code from the Page that post notification made when it was installed. Then (in Expression Web) I reformatted that code to fit a 200 pixel column and pasted it into a text widget. Seems to be working fine. I am still playing with the site but you can see the form on the front page of:

Hmm that's odd. Normally both should work or not. I'll try to remember to look into it.
