Subject: PN 1.2.37 files are inside a folder called 1.2 - Is this correct?
Usually when I unzip the latest version I get a folder called post-notification that contains all the PN files. In the 1.2.37 distribution, I get the post-notification folder but then all the files are inside another folder called 1.2. Will the file paths still work this way?

I just figured it out. I hadn't noticed before that these are pointing to the backup profile files that the README says to put in a folder called post_notification in the wp-contents directory. I had created that folder and added -bk to each file name. The folder permission was 744. I changed it to 755 and the warning messages in the Settings options went away.

I am now getting 6 Warnings. What is causing this?

Subject: Accessible subscription form
The following changes will make the subscription forms accessible. Add the following to your css file (change colors per your theme):
#newsletter legend, #newslettersub legend {
    font-weight: bold;
    color: #075;
    margin-top: 2px;
    margin-bottom: 2px;
    margin-left: -3px;
    }

#newsletter input.addressinfo, #newslettersub input.addressinfo {
    cursor: text;
    margin-bottom: 5px;
    height: 1.2em;
    width: 175px;
    }

#newsletter input.button, #newslettersub input.button {
    color: #fff;
    font-weight: bold;
    border: 2px outset #999;
    background: #075;
    }

input.addressinfo:hover, input.addressinfo:focus {
    cursor: text;
    color: #000;
    background-color: #ffc;
    }

In snippets.php
change to
<form id="newsletter" method="post" action="<?php echo post_notification_get_link(); ?>" style="text-align:left">
      <fieldset id="posting_notice">
       <legend>E-mail address</legend>
<input type="text" class="addressinfo" name="addr" size="175" maxlength="50" value="<?php echo post_notification_get_addr(); ?>"/><br />
    <input type="submit" class="button" name="submit" value="Submit" />
      </fieldset>
</form>

In post_notification.php
change to
    echo '<form id="newsletter" method="post" action="'.post_notification_get_link().'" >';
    echo '<fieldset>';
    echo '<legend>' . $options['subtext'] . '</legend>';
    echo '<label for="addr"><input type="text" class="addressinfo" name="addr" id="addr" size="' . $options['size'] . '" maxlength="50" value="'.post_notification_get_addr().'" /><br />';
    echo '<input type="submit" class="button" name="submit" value="' . $options['submit'] . '" /></label>';
    echo '</fieldset>';
    echo '</form>';

In en_US subscribe.tmpl
change to
<form id="newslettersub" method="post" action="@@action" style="text-align:left">
      <fieldset id="posting_notice">
       <legend>E-mail address</legend>
<input type="text" class="addressinfo" name="addr" size="175" maxlength="50" value="@@addr"/><br />
<input type="radio" name="action" value="subscribe" checked="checked" />Subscribe &nbsp; <input type="radio" name="action" value="unsubscribe" />Unsubscribe<br />
    <!--capt--><img alt="captcha" src="@@captchaimg" /> <br />
    Please insert the chars: <input type="text" name="captcha" size="30" maxlength="50" />
    <input type="hidden" name="captchacode" value="@@captchacode" />
    <br /><!--cha-->
    <input type="submit" class="button" name="submit" value="Submit" />
    @@vars
      </fieldset>
</form>

Subject: Related Posts problem
All the e-mail messages sent to subscribers contain the wrong list of related posts. This has been happening for several versions and I was hoping it would be fixed when it complied with WP 2.7 but it is still a problem.
Example, a post about a color contrast checker at [www.stc-access.org] has the following list:
Related posts
    * Web Accessibility: Color and Typography (0)
    * Change to Color Contrast Analyzer Tool (0)
    * Color Blindness Aids (0)
    * Assisted Living Resources (0)
    * Visual (0)
    * Trimming the List of Things People Can’t Do (0)

But the e-mail message has the following list:
! Related Posts !
  * Accessibility Browser Extensions, Favelets, and Toolbars [2] (0)
  * Internet Accessibility / Usability Resources F-W [3] (0)
  * Internet Accessibility [4] (0)
  * Color Blindness Aids [5] (0)
  * Assisted Living Resources [6] (0)
  * Web Accessibility: Access Keys [7] (0)

Why is this happening? Is there a setting I've missed that is doing this?

Morty,

See the attached zip file for some fixes for the English translation files. These are to fix typos such as changing "realy" to "really", some plurals of nouns, and some rewording.
The author has attached one file to this post:

I just downloaded update 1.2.19 from http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-notification/ and the subscribe_snippet.php file contents was changed to:

Please see snippets.php

But there is no snippets.php file. Where is it?

I checked the change log and it says it is for 1.2.20 and doesn't mention 1.2.19. Should we have 1.2.20 instead?

Subject: post_notification.lock error
I've installed Post Notification 1.2.18. When I went to the settings page, I see the following error message:
"Couldn't create File: /var/www/vsroot/stcwdc.org/wdcblog/wp-content/plugins/post-notification/_temp/post_notification.lock
Please assure the the path is writeable. This is an error!"

However, there is a post_notification.lock file in the _temp directory. It is set to 644. It contains zero bytes. What should it contain and what should the Write setting be if not 644?

P.S. Change the error message so that "the the" is "that the".

Subject: Can subscribers update their list of categories?
Is it possible for subscribed users to update the list of categories they subscribe to? When our blog was getting started, some people signed up before we had identified all the categories. I'd like to let them review the list of available categories in their profile so they can make changes.

And don't forget to fix the links in the admin files that point to the old directory name. When we delete the old directory name, will the update take care of deleting the database tables using the old directory name?

Subject: Directory underscore changed to hyphen in 1.2.16
Something is wrong either in the Readme file or in the packaging for version 1.2.16. I have gone back to version 1.2.15. The unzipped file for 1.2.16 is named post-notification and it contains all the files. However, the Readme says
2. go into the post-notification directory.
3. Copy the post_notification (Underline!!) dir into you plugin dir.
The post_notification directory (contained all the files in previous versions).

Some files still refer to /plugins/post_notification/
(except in the Hebrew files, which uses /plugins/post-notification).

For example, in the admin.php file:
<form name="import" action="admin.php?page=post_notification/admin.php&amp;action=manage" method="post">

Should the files for version 1.2.16 be loaded into the old post_notification plugins directory, or should we replace that old directory name for one with a hyphen instead of the underscore? I tried that and got an error message about _temp and post.notification.lock

Or should the admin files use POST_NOTIFICATION_PATH . 'admin.php' instead?
